Why Is It Needed?

When a book goes out of stock while it’s in demand, lost orders can quickly pile up, and booksellers may even pass on a title if it isn’t available when expected.

The book trade is much more algorithm-driven than it was even a few years ago, and large vendors in particular require certainty about a book’s availability to ship at time of order. The upside is more regular orders with less work, but it makes it very important to maintain at least a small supply on hand of every book in print (and, conversely, to promptly mark a title "out of print" when stock runs out and you no longer wish to print more).

How Does It Work?

The service removes the burden of manually managing your inventory levels. It works like this:

1. You supply a list of your books and minimum stock levels for each. When your available stock dips below that threshold, you receive a quote for a short-run reprint.

2. When you get a quote, you may Approve it as-is, Modify it by changing the quantity, shipping address, or other specs, or Reject it if you prefer not to reprint. If you reject a reprint, you will not receive further prompts for that book, and you should plan on marking it out of print when stock runs out.

How Fast Is It?

Turnaround time is usually extremely fast, with a 3–5 day delivery standard. That standard may vary throughout the year depending on business factors, but you should always obtain a delivery date estimate with your quotes.
